Hello!
Hmm....
Note to self: tell people about livejournal.

In any case, good news: I just got my second/third official job. I know, I know. I'm pathetic, just because most people at the age of twenty have already been in at least four gainful employment situations. "looks innocent" Me? Sarcastic? Never.

As you may have guessed from my lovely new userpic, I play the violin. I am, in fact, a music major at the university I attend. This has nothing to do with my phobia towards jobs. That started after I got fired from my first one at the tender age of 16. Because of this fear, I've had an extremely hard time doing anything related to actually getting a job. I've turned in some resumes, they've come to nothing, and I've sighed in relief. But me and my "person I talk to" i.e. therapist have been working on this fear, because I know that being afraid of employment is somewhat silly, and I can't avoid it forever. This work has consisted of trying to think of jobs as good things, not deathly boring ways to make money; finding jobs I actually could enjoy, and turning in applications. At long last, this has borne fruit (excerpt from a email to my mother):

I was talking with my advisor, and she gently pushed me to call about an opening for a violin teacher. I called. They called back and wanted my resume. I sent my resume. They called again and asked for an interview. We set up an interview for tonight, and I got the job. I am frigging amazed and scared and absolutely joyful/thankful, and any -ful thing you can think of that is good. I’ve never taught before, and they might have me giving lessons by next week! The interview was not what I expected, not like interviewing for a cashier’s position or talking to a professor. She showed me around, and we held an actual conversation. She was impressed by my grades. I had to resist pointing out that those were there because of the lack of experience, because she already knew that, and they want me anyway! I think I’m in shock, or denial, or something.

Anyhow, I am very happy, and all of the above, as well.
Cheers,
Greeny
