I am amazed, over the past two days I've: 1. knit two fingerless mitts (more on that later) and 2. Wrote two words that I had a hard time remembering how they were spelled (catastrophic and miscellenea).
The spelling thing's a big deal for me, I have a very good memory. On to the mitts.
They're DONE! Done, done, done, done, de done done done! Sorry. I get excited about finishing stuff. Books, classes, years, and songs. I love finishing them all. (FO means finished object, by the bye)
There was much consternation in my heart when the yarn for the mitts ran out before they were both done (I had two. freaking. inches. left.). So, with sorrow in my heart, and not a little worry about where the yarn had gone (there was enough according to the pattern), I ripppped out both mitts. One I pulled out to three inches, the other I ripped out all the way. I thought that perhaps my gauge/yarn usage had changed after the first half of the first one. Nope. Re-knit both yesterday and finished them today. My conclusion is: the yarn maker ripped my sister (and me) off, no pun intended. There should have been at least ten yards more in that skein. If there had been, I would have finished with yarn to spare, my friends.
In any case, they are finished. They are an inch shorter than the pattern specifies, but I don't mind. They match. I so need a camera to post pics. The left over bits of yarn are so funny. I have literally less than two feet of yarn left, and it is made up of ends ranging from two inches to a half inch long. I am good. It took me knitting everything (almost) twice, but I made the absolute best use of that yarn possible. And I finished when I wanted to, despite the re-knitting.
A run-down:
Pattern: Maine Morning Mitts
Size: Women's Medium
Needles: Crystal Palace Bamboo DPNs, US size 6 (4.25 mm)
Yarn: Jo-Ann Sensations, Bellezza Collection Canditi
Color: Lime
I will come back and link to pics once I have them up.
Oh yeah, plans...I'm still playing at the Dragon's Lair tonight with my band, Serafem. I'll be dressing up real nice and sweet, and then making my face look devilish. I've even got some cute little horns. Who knows? I may enjoy myself.
'Til we meet again,
Greeny
