Something to Talk About
Oct. 20th, 2008 09:03 pmI just started a new knitting project. What is it, you ask? Fingerless gloves, made from (drumroll, please) yarn my older sis gave me two(?) years ago...have I really been doing yarn-related things this long?
This yarn, which completely mystified me at first, now is much appreciated, a lot. It's 60% wool, 40% nylon. This means it's good for warmth (wool=warm) and sturdy enough to wear as a garment (nylon is tough). The colorway it is in (meaning its color and how many ever shades it has) is so light! Kind of a pearlescent shade of green with flecks (literally) of pink, orange, darker green, and white thrown in. After using suede yarn for the past three weeks, this stuff is a dream. The stitch definition! (how well stitches show up when the fabric is knitted or crocheted). The stretchiness! (Wool is well known for its stretchy quality). And the color! Can't get over that. It's soft, too. My sis wouldn't have it any other way. :)
So yes, basking in a new project. Must go practice and read. Tomorrow...the dentist! (3rd time in three weeks, don't ask.) Work, and band rehearsal. By the way, in case people who care are reading, my band has a gig on Halloween at a biker bar. For some reason, I get real nervous just telling people about it. Oh well.
Off we go! Into the wild blue yonder. (Are those the words?)
